Division of Finance Accomplishments - 2007

  • In 2007, DBED provided financial assistance to 143 Maryland companies, which has created over $1 billion in capital investment here in MD, the vast majority of which benefits small businesses with under100 employees.

  • DBED’s 2007 investments have helped create 2,183 new jobs while retaining 3,151 existing jobs for Maryland residents.

  • In 2007, DBED also dramatically increased the capacity of, and access to, its small business financing programs so more small and minority businesses can qualify and borrow more. In 2007, DBED provided 43 loans to Maryland small businesses, helping to create jobs and almost $40 million in capital investment.

  • DBED invested $3.3 million to support 39 start-up companies through the Maryland Venture Capital Fund.

  • DBED’s popular Biotech Investment Tax Credit program helped produce $12 million in investment for 19 growing Maryland biotech corporations.

  • In 2007, DBED helped provide workforce training for over 10,000 employees at 147 Maryland companies.
