DBED Secretary David W. Edgerley is former Director of the Department of Economic Development for Montgomery County and Special Assistant to the President of Montgomery College, where he expanded high-tech business in partnership with Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland, and leading technology companies.  Prior to his position with Montgomery County, Edgerley was the Director of the Allegany County Department of Economic Development and Director of the Allegany County Office of Development Assistance.

“I look forward to working with Governor O’Malley and Lt. Governor Brown, as we work to keep Maryland competitive in the global economy and expand biotech and life sciences in our state,” Edgerley said.  “In order to fulfill Governor O’Malley’s goal of One Maryland with a strong and growing middle class, we must make our state more business-friendly while still protecting our working families.”

Edgerley received a B.A. from Frostburg State University, a Graduate Certificate in Management from Shenandoah College and an M.B.A. from Mt. Saint Mary’s.  He has served the community through the Carl M. Freeman Foundation-Faces Board, the Maryland Economic Development Corporation, the Technology Council of Maryland, as the Dean of the Graduate school Advisory Council at the University of Maryland, as President of the Maryland Economic Development Association, as a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of both the Cumberland Theater and the Bethesda Cultural alliance and as Chair of the Greater Washington Initiative of the Greater Washington Board of Trade. Edgerley is a resident of Germantown, Maryland.
