Maryland Department of Agriculture

The Maryland Department of Agriculture’s International Marketing Program brings the state's diverse agriculture and seafood to the world. Using its network of domestic and worldwide partnerships, the program helps Maryland producers navigate the complexities of international trade while also promoting their products overseas. The Maryland Department of Agriculture' s international specialists are adept at building and maintaining relationships with overseas buyers, conducting research, and providing technical advice. Since its creation in 1986, the Office of International Marketing has connected local exporters with all regions of the world and hosted visitors from every continent. Maryland Biotechnology Center

The Maryland Biotechnology Center was created in 2009 in response to Governor Martin O’Malley’s BIO 2020 Initiative and the recommendations of the Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board.  The Center’s mission is to provide comprehensive and coordinated access to core resources and services for all of Maryland’s bioscience community.  In conjunction with partner organizations, the Center focuses on efforts that support the creation of new bioscience enterprises, sustain the growth of successful enterprises, and leverage Maryland’s unique federal and academic life sciences assets to advance Maryland’s role as a global leader.

The Center works with Maryland’s Department of Business and Economic Development, Office of International Trade and Investment, to provide the necessary information for any international company considering a U.S. location, especially one with as rich a R&D environment in the biosciences as Maryland.  For additional information, contact Judy Britz, Executive Director.

Maryland/Israel Development Center

The mission of the Maryland/Israel Development Center is to help create jobs in both economies by promoting trade, joint ventures and investment between businesses and research institutions. Staffed by professionals in both Maryland and Israel, the MIDC identifies market and technology opportunities, and introduces Maryland and Israeli executives, entrepreneurs and investors to each other, to negotiate mutually beneficial business agreements.  If you are a Maryland company interested in exporting to Israel, please contact MIDC’s Director, Barry Bogage for more information.

Invest In America

Invest in America is the primary U.S. Government mechanism to manage foreign direct investment promotion. Efforts are focused on outreach to foreign governments and investors, support for state governments’ investment promotion efforts, and addressing business climate concerns by serving as ombudsman in Washington for the international investment community.  For any questions regarding investing in the United States, please contact Invest in America’s Director, Aaron Brickman.

Maryland Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of the nation. University System of Maryland

The University System of Maryland comprises 11 universities, two research institutions, two regional higher education centers, and a system office. USM provides assistance in developing international acedemic and research partnerships as well as access to excellent higher education opportunities. USM performs groundbreaking research, offers vital services to communities and individuals, fuels economic and workforce development, and works with international companies through a variety of programs.
