Business and Enterprise Development
Positioning Maryland as a business-friendly environment to in-state companies, and national and international businesses, the division creates, attracts, retains, and expands jobs in the state.
The division attracts new businesses to the state, cultivates important industry clusters, and builds relationships with key economic drivers such as the State’s federal facilities, universities, and military installations. The division also assists Maryland firms export their products and services to international markets and helps businesses effectively initiate or expand their overseas marketing.
Regional field staff, small business, strategic, and finance teams unite under the division to offer “one-stop” assistance to businesses and local economic development partners. Field staff work collaboratively with partners at all levels to provide financial, counseling, and technical assistance to new and expanding businesses.
