Life Sciences Advisory Board

The mission of the Life Sciences Advisory Board is to promote life science research, development, commercialization and manufacturing. Created in 2007, the 15 members represent federal agencies, biotechnology businesses and higher education.

 H. Thomas Watkins   

Chairman

H. Thomas Watkins serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Human Genome Sciences. Prior to HGS, Mr. Watkins had nearly 20 years of experience at Abbott Laboratories and its affiliates in the U.S. and Asia. Appointed to the Life Sciences Advisory Board by Gov. O’Malley in 2009, Mr. Watkins is also a member of the Board of Directors of Vanda Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
