The mission of the Maryland Economic Development Commission is to establish policies to create a competitive economic climate for business growth to compete more vigorously in the global marketplace. Founded in 1995, the 31 member board is appointed by the Governor to three-year terms. State-private partnership engages in strategic planning, marketing and policy development. Committees include Business Climate, Collaboration and Commercialization, Regional and Economic Diversity, and Intrastructure.

Chairman
Steve Dubin became Chief Executive Officer of Martek in June 2006 after serving since September 2003 as President of Martek. Mr. Dubin joined Martek in 1992 and has served in various management positions, including CFO, Treasurer, Secretary, General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Dubin received a B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland and a Juris Doctor degree from the National Law Center at George Washington University.
