Garrett Information Enterprise Center (GIEC) was developed by Garrett College and Garrett County Economic Development working in conjunction with partners who provided the support needed to make it a reality.  These partners will continue to support the tenants of the incubator in many ways.  Garrett College (GC) rents space, provides technical assistance and support, and provides maintenance, security, housekeeping, photocopying, child care, and postal services.  The GC Reproduction Center provides tenants with high speed/volume copy capability, online printing capacity, fax service, and document binding/reproduction capability.  The college also provides customized employee training and resources for student interns and future employees.  GC makes conference rooms, as well as computer and distance learning labs available to tenants.

Frostburg State University (FSU) has designated a portion of the 40,000 square-foot Tawes Hall building for an incubator designed to build the county’s base of technology-related businesses.  Tawes Hall was the University's science building until 2003.  The incubator opened in 2004 with three companies.  FSU faculty and students in a variety of disciplines are now working with the incubator companies.

With Tawes Hall scheduled for demolition in 2009, the University has begun construction on a new 52,000 square-foot building at the Allegany Business Center, a new 56-acre technology park on the edge of campus.  Utilities are already in place on the site, with the $1.3 million project funded by the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, the federal Economic Development Administration, and the Appalachian Regional Commission.  To be known as Allegany Business Center at Frostburg State University, or ABC@FSU, the building is projected to be ready for occupancy in late 2007.

The Technical Innovation Center (TIC) at Hagerstown Community College is an economic development effort that fosters the growth of new and expanding businesses by providing access to advanced technologies, business development resources, and collaborative opportunities. An integral part of our mission is creating and retaining high-quality employment opportunities for our students and the quad-state community.

The TIC is a 30,000 square foot three-story building attached to the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) on the campus of Hagerstown Community College.  The TIC provides two floors of office and meeting space.  These offices may be leased for the start-up of qualifying new businesses or for the expansion of existing businesses.  The first floor of the TIC contains a large open, flexible area that provides opportunities for light manufacturing.  The second and third floors contain twenty-nine 450 square foot class A office suites.
