Training for Entrepreneurs

University of Maryland – Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship
Helps entrepreneurs develop and grow successful companies through integral professional consulting services and programs.   As a nationally recognized leader in management education, the center uses its strategic position within the Smith School of Business to leverage resources from the entire university to assist enterprises.

Hinman CEOs
A dynamic, award-winning, living-learning program that helps students start their own companies.   State-of-the-art technology in an incubator-like setting enables the free flow of ideas among the CEOs as well as easy interaction with experts out-side of the university.   Seminars by experts in company formation and by successful entrepreneurs educate and inspire the CEOs.

Alex Brown Center for Entrepreneurship
UMBC established the Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship in Spring 2000 through a generous gift of $1 million from The Alex. Brown Foundation. UMBC has worked closely with the Baltimore business community with one vision in mind—to create a leading center for university entrepreneurism. UMBC's entrepreneurial spirit, dynamic and diverse academic environment, commitment to excellence in research and education, and experience in economic development provide a strong platform for creating and supporting entrepreneurism in the region.

ACTiVATE
ACTiVATE is a year-long program to train women with significant technical or business experience to be entrepreneurs and to create start-up companies from inventions from Maryland research institutions and federal agencies.

Small Business Development Centers
Provides training, counseling and support to entrepreneurs and small to mid-size businesses across the state.  The Network, a partnership between the University of MD, College Park, links private enterprise, government, higher education and Small Business Administration and the University of Maryland local economic development organizations to provide management, training and technical assistance to Maryland’s small businesses.
