Maryland is literally an east coast crossroads. Traveling or shipping to Maryland, from anywhere, is easy. The east coast's major thoroughfare, I-95, passes directly through Baltimore.  I-81 passes through western Maryland, and I-70 connects the central and western parts of the state. A full network of state-maintained highways and bridges, including the famous Chesapeake Bay Bridge, link all parts of Maryland.
