Programs like the Maryland Mortgage Program are available to help make buying a home more affordable. In 2010 the median home price in Maryland was $245,726, ranging from $95,000 in Allegany County to $361,000 in Howard County.  Home prices in the Baltimore metropolitan area are generally lower than other northeast and west coast metro areas.
