Maryland has over 10,000 jobs in occupations traditionally associated with the space
industry. According to The Space Report 2011, nearly 260,000 were employed in the space industry in the U.S. in 2009. Salaries averaged $92,553, more than double the average private sector salary of $45,155. Maryland ranks third highest among states with an average space industry salary of $110,614, also more than double the private sector average.
