The Great Outdoors

Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, boating or fishing, your next big adventure awaits you in Maryland! With 60 state and national parks and 4000 miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline, your journey through the great outdoors can have you hiking the Appalachian Trail, riding the waves at Ocean City or skiing the slopes at Wisp Mountain.

Discover natural wonders and explore the woodlands, wetlands and marshlands of hundreds of hiking trails, and with more than 2,000 campsites, you can play hard and rest easy!

From easy routes though pedal-friendly small town Berlin, to moderate dirt roads and wilderness loops like The Ridge, or challenging off-road trails along the Moab of the East, the state’s fourteen designated biking trails offer exhilarating possibilities for every kind of biker.

Snowboard, ski, or ice skate at Wisp Deep Creek Mountain Resort, where 20 downhill slopes and 14 miles of trails await you.

Discover hidden coves and undisturbed nature along 4,000 miles of the Chesapeake Bay on the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail. Set sail to the waterfront towns of Annapolis and St. Michaels, visit historic lighthouses or kayak on Deep Creek Lake. Crabbing, surf fishing, catch and release fishing--sportfishing enthusiasts enjoy all the freshwater, bay and ocean fishing opportunities Maryland offers.
