Loan Guarantee Programs

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) Loan Program
The business gets a loan from its lender with a 7(a) structure and the lender gets an SBA guarantee on a portion or percentage of this loan.

Maryland Industrial Development Financing Authority (MIDFA)
Encourages private sector financing in economic development projects located in Priority Funding Areas. MIDFA facilitates capital access by issuing private activity revenue bonds and can provide credit insurance in the form of a deficiencies guaranty to reduce lender's risk.

Maryland Small Business Development Financing Authority (MSBDFA)
Provides financing for small businesses that are not able to qualify for financing from private lending institutions or owned by socially and economically disadvantaged persons.

The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD's) Maryland Capital Access Program is a small business credit enhancement program that enables private lenders to establish a loan loss reserve fund from fees paid by lenders, borrowers, and the State of Maryland.
