Secretary Edgerley receives award during MEDA annual conference

DBED Secretary David W. Edgerley was recently awarded the Hall of Fame award by the Maryland Economic Development Association in recognition for nearly 30 years as an economic development professional. The awards were presented on June 4 during the 2007 MEDA Annual Conference at Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort Center in Allegany County. The event was attended by approximately 240 association members.

MEDA award winners pose during annual meeting“Our awards recognize people, projects, programs and activities that have helped improve the economic climate in the State of Maryland,” said Timothy R. Troxell, CEcD, President of MEDA. “Building on the momentum created by last year’s awards, MEDA received 35 nominations for the 2007 awards, all of which were excellent.”

Each year, MEDA honors individuals who have made important contributions to the field of economic development throughout their careers. In addition to the award received by Secretary Edgerley, Life Member award recipients for 2007 were Marie S. Keegin, CEcD, who recently retired as Executive Director of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development, and John R. Sundergill, a recent retiree after 37 years in the economic development profession, the last 23 of which were as Director of Economic Development for BGE. Volunteer of the Year honors were given to Frank Adams, who has been dedicated to the development and economic improvement of Federalsburg in Caroline County since the mid-1970s.
